PERSONAL
BIOGRAPHY OF DR. DARLENE CASTLE
I
knew I wanted to become a Chiropractor while I was still in High
School: I wanted to help people. I had received Chiropractic care
for a neck problem at the age of 15 and liked the way the Chiropractor
helped people, and decided that was the career for me.
One month after graduating from high school, I was in Chiropractic
College. That was in 1969. By studying all year ‘round, I was
able to receive my Chiropractic degree in October, 1972. I was
just 21 years old.
After practicing in Mississippi, I opened my first Washington
office in Kirkland in 1977 in a home/office building. Families
enjoyed the homey, non-clinical atmosphere of the practice, but
when the building was sold I was forced to move to a Redmond office
building.
Two years later, I moved to Everett to join practice with
a colleague, and in 1987 I opened my own office once more in South
Everett.
In 1994 I decided to return to the non-clinical atmosphere
of a home/office type of family practice and began looking for
a suitable building. The first one I looked at was at my current
location, just across the trestle from Everett.
A year later, I decided to get involved in the community and my first volunteer
activity was Teen Night where I quickly became the Volunteer Coordinator. I became
a tutor and lunch buddy for Lake Stevens Middle School and then became involved
with Aquafest -- a 3 year experience which culminated in my being Aquafest President
1998.
I am active in the Lake Stevens Rotary Club and will serve as President-Elect
during the 2000-2001 term.
In 1999 I served as President of the Greater Lake Stevens Chamber of Commerce
and now serve on the board in an advisory capacity.
Hobbies & Activities: I enjoy writing and was a
Chiropractic columnist for a weekly newspaper, publishing over
70 Chiropractic articles. In addition, I dabble in writing fiction
and science fiction (unpublished).
I also enjoy reading Science Fiction, drawing (pencil &
charcoal), woodcarving, hiking and camping, sailing, bicycling
and in-line skating.
